God Jihyo is a nickname given to Jihyo by fans because of her godly nature. To celebrate her 22nd birthday, here are some reasons why our lovely leader Park Jihyo is called God Jihyo.

1. Jihyo Trained For 10 Years Before Debuting!
Idols often go through a training period to prepare for debut. Usually, they may practice singing, dancing, acting, or foreign language as a trainee. The best trainees will be picked to join the debut team and go under intense training in order to achieve their dream of debut! Jihyo joined JYP Entertainment at the young age of just 8 in 2005, and trained for 10 years and 2 months before she debuted with TWICE! The average training period for JYP Entertainment trainees is 3 years, yet Jihyo persevered through a decade of training to become the leader we know and love today. Many would lose hope from the uncertainty of what the future holds, but it takes a god like Jihyo to continue chasing her dream for 10 years and not give up. She had to give up most of her childhood to debut, and we thank the heavens that she had the strength to hold on and debut because...

2. God on Top!
SIXTEEN was the survival show that created TWICE! It started with 16 JYP Entertainment trainees, and among them were the 9 members of TWICE that we all came to love. During the show, the trainees were split in Major and Minor teams, with the Major team consisting of members that were likely to be on the final debut line-up. Members of both teams shuffled throughout the show, but Chaeyoung had a solid spot in the Major team with her amazing lyric-writing skills, and charismatic rapping skills at such a young age. Her long running streak ended only when God Jihyo stepped up and decided to give the small rapper a taste of what being in Minor team is like.
With 10 years of training, such a task was an easy feat for Jihyo with her godly vocals and godly stage presence. In the end, we are blessed to have both charismatic rapper Chaeyoung and God Jihyo in the debut line-up for TWICE!
3. Leader Chosen by the People
After the final line-up was revealed for TWICE, Jihyo was unanimously voted as leader by the members. J.Y. Park has always said that a leader must be humble and be willing to put others before themselves. Her long training years along with her humble and hard working personality, she was the perfect leader for the group. Jihyo is always taking a lead with her outstanding speaking skills (and her loud voice!) and ability to control the members. The members were absolutely correct with their judgement because both ONCEs and TWICE cannot imagine the group the same way without our lovely leader Jihyo.
4. She Always Sacrifice For Her Members
One important quality of a leader is that they must think of others before themselves. Jihyo has always shown this throughout her time as the leader of TWICE. Jihyo never hesitates when it comes to giving the spotlight to other members, even when it meant she has to stand at the side or kneel down in their adorable group pictures! Small acts like this shows how humble Jihyo is, always putting others before herself.
5. Amazing Main Vocal with Amazing Stage Presence!
Personality aside, Jihyo doesn't lose in talents either. As the main vocal of TWICE, her amazing vocals is part of what makes TWICE songs so catchy and popular. Her 10 years of training definitely shows in her amazing ad-libs and lines in all of their songs. Her amazing singing ability is enhanced by her great stage presence, from TWICE songs to covers, Jihyo never fails to to grab our attention! Her Greedy, Melody Project, and Masked Singer stages are all must-watches for ONCE!
6. Looks Gorgeous With AND Without Bangs!
With a great personality and amazing vocals, Jihyo becomes a triple threat with her visuals. She sported bangs for most of her TWICE career, but recently, she has been growing out her bangs and we have never been more blessed! The ability to look good with AND without bangs is something that a god like Jihyo can pull off. In Momo's words, we "like her both ways".
7. She Was a Bad A** Even At a Young Age!
As a trainee in JYP for many years, Jihyo is close with many of the other JYP Entertainment artists. Being a trainee a young age, she was the company's baby. A cute anecdote involving 2PM's Taecyeon: she once hit him with a backpack when she was 11 years old...and he still holds a grudge to this day! This story was mentioned by Jihyo in their "Signal" parody with M2, where Jihyo told her younger self to not hit Taecyeon with her bag because he still talks to her about it to this day. With stories like these, ONCEs can tell that Jihyo was feisty even as a young 11 year old! Nothing but respect for our bad a** leader!

8. A Mother To Eight Children
Her role as a leader doesn't end at just being a leader, but she also acts as a Mother to all the members. Even she falls right in the middle in terms of age, she takes care of all the members as if they were her own children. One heartwarming example is how she took off Sana's makeup when Sana was too tired after their schedules. Jihyo herself must have been tired, but she wanted to take care of Sana and protect her skin. Another example was when Dahyun hurt her ankle, Jihyo carried Dahyun to the hospital on her back. Jihyo cares for her members like a real mother would, and her love for them shows through many of her selfless acts. If we had to cite all the times Jihyo showed her members unconditional love, our "Works Cited" page would have easily exceeded ten pages.
9. Great at Disciplining the Members
Along with being a caring mother, Jihyo also has a strict leader side to her. Leading a group of 9 people is no easy task -- only a god can control such wild kids! The bond between the members is undeniably close, being this close means they're very comfortable and playful with each other. For the brief period where Jihyo was absent due to her injury, TWICE had to operate without their mom, and they were lost children without their leader. Jihyo isn't afraid to hush the playful members and tell them to focus or be quiet when needed. With Jihyo in charge, the TWICE member has someone who keeps them in line, without becoming a tyrant. Jihyo has both a playful and a strict side, and we wouldn't have it any other way!
At around 14:33, you can see her leading the members and even effectively calling their attention to finish the task ahead.
10. Positive Attitude That Inspires Many ^-^
Another reason why ONCEs love Jihyo is for her positive attitude. Her amazing positivity can be very contagious: everyone can't help but be happy around her. Jihyo suffered an injury and had to go through surgery and miss out on the filming of TWICE TV5 in Switzerland, but maintained a positive attitude and updated her status on their official Instagram! During the recovery stage, she had to film for the "Signal" teasers and music video, but she still had a big smile on her face throughout! It doesn't matter what hardships she faced, she still smiled through everything with a positive attitude, making ONCEs around the world happy.
11. Her Smile Can Outshine the Sun
Have you seen her smile? Are you still alive? Jihyo's smile is so bright it blinds! Jihyo is already a gorgeous immortal being, but her beauty is enhanced everytime she smiles. This fact is best proven by pictures, take a look at these beautiful pictures (at your own caution)!
12. Perfection
What CAN'T God Jihyo do? She's great at singing and dancing, humble and selfless, AND she's absolutely gorgeous! She excels in so many areas, we could not ask for a better leader! The 10 years of training she experienced shaped her into the godly person that we love today: the one and only leader of TWICE, Park Jihyo!
