With the award season having already begun, the girls experienced yet another jam-packed week. From being in Japan for the Mnet Asian Music Awards to going right back to Korea for the MelOn Music Awards, there are new announcements, new peaks, and new leaks!
Here's what happened this week:
November 27, 2017 -- In the midst of the girls' LieV, JYP Entertainment released the first teaser for the girls' repackage album "Merry & Happy" with the title track "Heart Shaker." This will be the girls' 6th release for this year alone, following "Knock Knock," "Signal," their Japan Debut Album #TWICE, "One More Time," and "Likey!"
"Likey" also surpassed the 90,000,000 view mark on YouTube, and making it the fastest Kpop Girl Group M/V to do so! The music video for Likey also became the 56th most-viewed K-Pop music video and the youngest on the top 100 list!
Among all the new achievements and announcements during the day, the pre-orders for the 2018 Season's Greetings, TWICELAND Concert DVD and Blu-ray, and Jihyo's special photobook began.
November 28, 2017 -- The girls headed to Japan for the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2017! MAMA in JAPAN was the second of the 3-part award show and featured TWICE, as well as Seventeen, Wanna One, Monsta X, BoA, and many more! Popular Japanese girl group AKB48 was also present. Mnet also announced that TWICE will participate on the special stage for BoA alongside Seventeen, Wanna One, and BoA herself.
Through NAVER Star Cast, JYP Entertainment released new behind-the-scenes pictures of the girls during their photoshoot for their season's greetings!
November 29, 2017 -- While waiting for MAMA in JAPAN, it was first announced that the girls will participate in SBS Love Family Concert on December 14th. JYP Entertainment also released TWICE TV6's 7th episode! Later on, it was revealed that TWICE has now sold over 2,000,000 copies in just 25 months. This number will grow before the end of the year, with the pre-order date for "Merry & Happy" getting announced alongside the album package information just a few moments later.
At MAMA 2017, the girls covered BoA's "My Name," where they showcased their versatility in dance. They showed a more mature and feminine image that contrasts towards their recent image as TWICE. They also performed their own songs, which featured remixes of "TT," "Signal," and "Likey." Along with a VCR that matched the girls' personalities, their entire stage was approximately 10 minutes long.
By the end of the show, the girls received both the Best Dance (Female) Performance Award as well as Song of The Year Daesang Award for "Signal." This makes them the first artist to win 2 consecutive years! The girls and J.Y. Park congratulated each other and shared these messages on their respective Instagram accounts!
November 30, 2017 -- With the hype for MAMA in JAPAN having simmered down, SUDDEN ATTACK updated their Facebook page and released new set of photos, as well as a video featuring the girls dubbing for their characters in the game!
"Likey" also took the number 1 spot on the GAON Social Chart for the 4th consecutive week!
December 1, 2017 -- As the clock struck 12 midnight, JYP Entertainment released the tracklist for "Merry & Happy" where it consists of two new songs and the original 13 from twicetagram. J.Y. Park wrote the lyrics for the song "Merry & Happy," which was tagged as HOT; meanwhile, "Heart Shaker" was composed by David Amber and Sean Alexander!
TWICE's official website was updated to fit the theme for "Merry & Happy!" Pre-order for the album also officially began. Despite being a month old, "Likey" made a sudden rise on Instiz iChart and has once again entered the top 5! The music video for "TT" has also surpassed the 290,000,000 mark on YouTube and is expected to become the first Kpop Girl Group MV to reach 300,000,000 views!
The girls are also set to appear on Music Station Super LIVE, one of Japan's year ender music shows, alongside BTS on December 22nd! And even though the girls were not present at the show, they were the only girl group nominated for the Album of the Year award and Artist of the Year award in MAMA in Hong Kong.
December 2, 2017 -- The 8th episode of TWICE TV6 was released and despite no announcement, this season of the reality show could be coming to an end soon in anticipation of their comeback. With the MelOn Music Awards approaching, "Likey" once again entered the top 5 on the Instiz iChart!
On the red carpet, ONCEs were taken aback as the girls showed their sophisticated look! As the MelOn Music Awards began, after the first performers, TWICE was awarded as one of this year's the Melon Top 10! Later on in the show, the girls were also awarded for the Best Dance (Female) Performance for "Knock Knock!" The girls then transformed into dolls for their performance at the MMA 2017, and Tzuyu debuted a new hairstyle -- with bangs! The girls also posted a video on their Instagram captioned with a touching message for ONCEs.
December 3, 2017 -- As the girls are preparing for "Heart Shaker," it was announced that they will be appearing on MBC Tei's Dreaming Radio on December 6th as guests.
The music video for "Likey" reached 100,000,000 views on YouTube, making TWICE the fastest girl group to reach this milestone! This is also their 6th music video to go over 100M!
As the girls wrap up their new awards, they are now preparing for yet another comeback!
